New accessible saucer swing coming to Cameron’s playground!

The Cameron Parent Advisory Council has raised over $8000 to fund the purchase of an Oodle Swing for our playground. The Oodle Swing is a saucer swing similar to the one at Cameron Park, and it provides a larger seat and more stability for kids who might have trouble with regular swings. It can also fit 4-6 kids at once, promoting inclusive and group play. More information about the swing is available here.

We received a City of Burnaby Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission grant of $4000 as well as a Canada Post Community Foundation grant of $2500 towards this purchase. The remaining funds were raised by the PAC through fundraisers like the chocolate sale.

If you are interested in getting involved in planning purchases like this for the school, or in seeking and applying for funding opportunities like these grants, please consider joining the PAC executive! Contact for more information, or come to our next meeting!

Pancake Breakfast 2017

We had a great time at the Pancake Breakfast on December 7! Burnaby firefighters cooked pancakes for our students and staff, and the Parent Advisory Council supplied syrup and drinks. Over 30 parent “elves” set the tables for 400, served pancakes and drinks, and cleaned up afterward. And a special visitor from the North Pole brought treats for the students!

Thank you…

  • To the Burnaby Fire Department for being the most efficient pancake flippers we’ve ever seen,
  • To Save On Foods for supporting the Cameron PAC for this event and many others,
  • To Santa for graciously letting kids pull his beard to test it,
  • To our parent volunteers for all the work to put on this event,
  • To the teachers and staff for getting in the spirit in their pajamas, and
  • To Ms. Venos’ and Ms. Southern’s classes for the amazing festive decorations in the gym!

Parent volunteers desperately needed

Dear parents,
The Cameron Parent Advisory Council (PAC) represents all parents and guardians of Cameron students. This year we are struggling to find enough parent volunteers to run our events.
We need you to get involved, or we may not be able to offer events like the Welcome Back BBQ and Multicultural Dinner next year, or make purchases for the school like iPads and projectors, science kits, library books, and buses for field trips. Come to the next PAC meeting to find out about all the ways the PAC contributes to the school, and how you can help.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to get involved, please contact us here or email the Chair, Jen Zerkee at

Welcome to the 2017-2018 year at Cameron!

The Cameron Parent Advisory Council (PAC) welcomes all new and returning students, families, teachers, and staff to the new school year at Cameron.

The PAC represents parents and guardians and provides input to the school and the district about any aspect of education. The PAC encourages parent involvement in the school and provides a forum for discussion of issues related to education. See About the PAC for more info.

What does the PAC do?

Last year, we raised funds and contributed at least $9000 to the school by purchasing classroom resources, science kits, Cameron Cubs jerseys, portable projectors, library book, and music equipment, as well as transportation and snacks for school field trips and events. We also host a number of school community events during the year, such as the Welcome Back coffees and BBQ, Multicultural Dinner, Pancake Breakfast, and Staff Appreciation.

We need parent support to continue doing these things!

Without your help, we won’t be able to continue to contribute these things to the school community. The PAC welcomes all volunteers–we have one-time and ongoing opportunities, and roles that can accommodate any schedule. Visit the Get Involved page and watch for notices for current opportunities, and email to be added to our volunteer email list.

Thank you for a great year at Cameron!

The Cameron Parent Advisory Council would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to our events and fundraisers this year, whether by volunteering time, participating in our fundraisers, or bringing food to our events. We had an exciting year and tried some new things, like the Greening Project, the Crash Crawly’s fundraiser, and our AGM, and we couldn’t do all the things we do without the support of Cameron families.

Watch for information about our first meeting in September, and come find out how you can be involved in the 2017-18 year!

Have a wonderful summer with your families!
