Your 2018-2019 PAC executive

At the Cameron Parent Advisory Council AGM on May 8, the following parents were elected to serve on your behalf as the Cameron PAC Executive for the 2018-2019 year:

Chair: Jen Zerkee

Vice Chair: Shalin Roggeveen

Secretary: Kari Hoskin

Treasurer: Erika Castellanos

Social Coordinator: Andrea Flett

Fundraising Coordinator: Heather MacDonald

DPAC Representative: Emily Zhang

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator: Claudia Paiva

We do not have a Special Projects Coordinator for next year. This executive position looks for and applies for grants for projects like the Greening Project last year and the accessible swing that will be installed on Cameron’s playground this summer. If you are interested in these projects and want to get involved, please come to our next meeting or contact chair@cameronpac.ca.

The PAC would like to thank outgoing executive Maryam Mahdavian for the work she has done during the two years she was a member of the executive, and as a volunteer before that.

Thank you for a great year at Cameron!

The Cameron Parent Advisory Council would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to our events and fundraisers this year, whether by volunteering time, participating in our fundraisers, or bringing food to our events. We had an exciting year and tried some new things, like the Greening Project, the Crash Crawly’s fundraiser, and our AGM, and we couldn’t do all the things we do without the support of Cameron families.

Watch for information about our first meeting in September, and come find out how you can be involved in the 2017-18 year!

Have a wonderful summer with your families!

Traffic safety around the school

stop-sign-300pxAs the weather gets darker and wetter, please be extra careful when dropping off and picking up your children. Please pay attention to the No Parking areas on both sides of the school, and remember there are NO U-TURNS allowed on Bartlett Court (the mall side) – please use the cul de sac to turn around. Encourage your kids to always use the crosswalk.

Thanks for your cooperation. We are all responsible for keeping our kids safe!

Student safety reminder

You may be aware of the recent sexual assaults in Burnaby (see here for RCMP info), some of which occurred quite close to our neighbourhood. Last week the school sent home a notice with some safety tips, which we’d like to remind you of here. Please review safety information with your kids, especially if they walk to and from school alone.

Kids should

  • walk with friends – don’t travel alone
  • stay in well-lit and supervised areas
  • be aware of your surroundings – don’t walk and text or use earbuds
  • tell an adult immediately if someone or something makes you uncomfortable or worries you.

If your child reports something suspicious, or you notice anything suspicious in your neighbourhood, please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922.
