Get Involved

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to be involved in the school community. Cameron PAC is always looking for volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved, let us know. There are many different opportunities, including both one-time and ongoing tasks, during school hours and on evenings or weekends. We can’t provide the events, supplies, or equipment that benefit all of our kids without volunteer help.

If you have a specific interest or skill and would like to volunteer your time, please let us know – we will try to find a good fit!

Please print and fill out this form, and return it to the school any time, to be added to our email list.

Upcoming Opportunities

Executive positions for 2017-2018

Following our 2017-2018 executive election in May, there are two positions still vacant. Please read the descriptions below and consider putting your name forward if one of these positions interests you:
  • Special Projects Coordinator: This person oversees larger or long-term projects such as the recent Greening Project, applies for grants, and coordinates with school and district staff to administer grant funds.
  • District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) Liaison: This person attends Burnaby DPAC meetings (held on the 3rd Monday of most months, 7-9pm, at Burnaby Central school) to represent and vote on behalf of the Cameron PAC, and also attends our PAC meetings at Cameron (the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7-9pm) to report back on DPAC activities.

All parents/guardians of Cameron students are eligible to serve on the PAC executive, except employees or elected officials of School District 41 or the BC Ministry of Education. Executives are expected to attend our monthly meetings (currently the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7-9pm, in the school staff room – but if Tuesdays don’t work for you and you’re interested in a position, let us know and we may be able to revisit our schedule or make other arrangements).

Our executive works very collaboratively, so while it may seem overwhelming to take on one of these positions, there is lots of help available! If you are interested, or if you have questions about any position, please contact chair@cameronpac.ca.

Other opportunities

Do you have a skill or interest that might help the PAC with administration, fundraising, event planning, or communications? Please fill out our volunteer form and return it to the school office, or contact cameronvolunteers@hotmail.com, and let us know how you might like to work with us!
